The Timelapse Project

This document explains the purpose of the project

It is located in my back yard, which is in Madera, California.

Three images are captured at 11:55am, 12:00 noon and 12:05pm, Pacific Standard Time (PST).

The final objective of the Timelapse Project is to create an accelerated movie of a year in the life of a tree. In order to make the movie as smooth as possible, it is important to obtain good quality images.

By taking three photographs, the chances of all three containing something "undesirable", such as a person in the frame or excessive wind movement are reduced. The photos are taken so close together so that the shadows do not appear to "dance around" when the final movie is produced.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think it's a mulberry tree. I guess we'll find out in spring, when we can look at the leaves - or in summer when we can see the fruit.

It is a treehouse, with a flower painted on the front. The treehouse itself is rarely used, as the ladder is too rickety and the floor is made of rotten chipboard. If you're lucky, you might see someone in it during the summer months...

The dates that are marked in bold are days that have comments associated with them.

The weather data is downloaded from weather.com at noon time every day. This is the same time that the images are captured, so you can get an idea of the weather conditions that the camera was experiencing while it was taking the photographs.

It is important to remember that the weather data displayed on each page is NOT the current conditions. It is the conditions at the time the images were taken.
